Eligibility Inclusion criteriaAge 16 and youngerBody weight of 3-80 kilogramsVA-ECMO use for primary cardiac failure using the Cardiohelp systemFirst ECMO run during any hospitalizationWritten informed consent from the parent or LAR (legally authorized representative)Exclusion criteriaA child is not eligible to participate because of any of the following circumstances:Gestationally-corrected age <37 weeksBleeding or coagulopathy that is a contraindication to anticoagulationIrreversible renal, hepatic, or lung failureStroke or uncertain neurological status within the past 30 daysSeverely malnourishedUse of an ECMO system other than the CardiohelpVV-ECMO or ECMO for primary respiratory failureGoals of patient to focus on comfort measures onlyFailure to separate from cardiopulmonary bypassAllergy or contraindication to receiving heparin or bivalirudin as a primary anticoagulant on ECMO Study update Study status:Sites:Target enrollment:Screened:Enrolled:Starting up5 starting up5000
